THE local Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) announced the lifting of Sunday lockdown effective November 14, 2021 to encourage more residents to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

The local IATF-EID said that only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to go out while those partially inoculated will only be allowed outdoors if they are scheduled for Covid-19 vaccination on Sunday, November 14.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, who chairs the local IATF-EID, said Saturday, November 13, 2021, that the fully vaccinated individuals should bring with them in going out either the pink vaccination card, QR code obtained at the vaccination center or VaXCertPH obtained online.

“Children below 17 years old are not allowed outdoors, unless they have a schedule for vaccination on Sunday,” Salazar said.

City Health Office data showed that 207,155 representing 30 percent of the target eligible population of 694,696 are fully vaccinated since the vaccination rollout began in March in the city.

Only establishments allowed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) such as groceries, supermarkets, malls, hotels and similar establishments shall be opened on Sunday, November 14, 2021 provided their personnel and even the operators are fully vaccinated, according to Salazar.

She said that religious activities shall be limited to the 30 percent venue capacity while public and private beach resorts, as well as river resorts, including inland and mountain resorts and similar establishments shall remain closed on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

She said that public markets and ‘talipapas’ in the villages are allowed to open, but only limited to 30 percent of venue capacity under MECQ guidelines.

“Operators as well as market goers should be fully vaccinated and ready to show their vaccination cards to authorities anytime,” she added.

Public transportation including tricycles shall be allowed to operate provided the drivers are fully vaccinated and ready to present their vaccination card to authorities anytime. Safety and health protocols and other regulations should be complied at all times.

To ensure compliance, quarantine checkpoints shall continue and the Barangay Sita Task Forces together with the police and Joint Task Force Zamboanga and other force multipliers are directed to continue strict enforcement of MECQ guidelines and health protocols.

Salazar has ordered the City Compliance Team to monitor and ensure compliance of the regulations and protocols of the establishments on November 14. (SunStar Zamboanga)
