THE City Health Office announced Saturday, November 13, 2021, that some 7,016 children 12 to 17 years old have received their first dose of Pfizer vaccines since the pediatric vaccination rolled out on November 8 in Zamboanga City.

The 7,016 children are among the 328,640 individuals who have received their first dose of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), according to Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer.

Miravite said 598 of the 7,016 children who are partially vaccinated are with comorbidities or underlying illness.

“Get yourself vaccinated against Covid-19 and encourage family members, neighbors, and co-workers to get their shots too for a happier Christmas!” Miravite said.

She said they continue to accelerate the vaccination rollout with the aim of obtaining 70-percent partial vaccination status by middle of November and 50-percent fully vaccinated status by December 25.

She said the 328,640 partially vaccinated since the vaccination program rolled out in Zamboanga City in March 2021 represents 47 percent of the target eligible population of 694,696.

So far, a total of 207,155 representing 30 percent of the target eligible population of 694,696 are already fully vaccinated.

Some 14 vaccination centers were opened Saturday, November 13, and five on Sunday, November 14, as the City Government ramped up inoculation and aimed to accomplish higher vaccination turnout and eventually ease restrictions. (SunStar Zamboanga)
