Bacolod City Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez has asked the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to update the city government on the status of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) 2021 amounting to P100 million.

Lopez said yesterday, November 14, that he personally submitted the letter to Tina Rose Marie Canda, officer-in-charge of DBM, on November 9, 2021.

He said the LGSF is an additional fund for the city’s priority programs like street lighting, financial assistance for health, sports, education, social protection and water system.

“It will be used for the much needed priority projects included in the city’s annual priority development plan,” Lopez added.

Earlier, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod passed a resolution regarding the matter.

Lopez said all the necessary requirements have been submitted already on June 29, 2021 yet by the City Mayor’s Office.

Meanwhile, Lopez also had a meeting with Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) president Ricardo Cabling to expedite the bidding for the appointment of a third party Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) accredited appraiser within the month.

“He (Cabling) also took notice of my request to have either Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) appraisers undertake devaluation of all properties in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental,” Lopez said.

During the meeting, he said, Cabling also agreed to his invitation to personally visit Bacolod within this month to have a better appreciation of the problems encountered in the ground and to take immediate steps to remedy the problems.

On November 12, Lopez sent a letter to the Board of Directors headed by Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario to impress upon them the urgency of his appeal for help and facilitate a favorable outcome within a month.

Lopez also expressed his gratitude to Senator Riza Hontiveros for helping him on its request.*
