MAER Summit Properties Inc., a member of Maer Summit Group, held brand launching and thanksgiving for selling out its first project, the Mati Ridge Homes, in Purok Magay, Barangay Don Martin Marundan, Mati City in Davao Oriental on November 5, 2021.

Mati Ridge Homes, a 29,010-square-meter real estate project, caters to decent housing needs of Classes C-E market with its socialized houses that range from single, single-detached, and duplex.

Gene Arcena, Maer Summit Properties chief operating officer (COO), said Mati Ridge Homes “is the answer to our commitment to Mati City and Davao Oriental to be socially relevant by providing a quality notch higher than most housing providers and environmentally-friendly low-cost houses by using eco-cast blocks in constructing our units.”

Neil Marvin Carilhay, COO of Maer Summit Logistics Inc., an affiliate of Maer Summit Properties, explained that eco-cast blocks are construction blocks that are mixed with plastics, an eco-friendly alternative to regular hollow blocks.

“What we do is we exchange kilos of plastics from the residents to kilos of rice, and these plastics are processed and mixed to create this type of construction material,” Carilhay said.

Diego Luis Suelto, Chief Executive Officer and President of Maer Summit Logistics, Inc. and Maer Summit Properties Chief Finance Officer, explained that they have partnered with GreenAntz which is based in Luzon to process these plastics to incorporate these to the construction material.

“And it’s us who brought these eco-cast here in Davao and Mindanao in general to be used in this project,” Suelto said.

Meanwhile, Davao Oriental 2nd District Representative Joel Mayo Almario revealed during the event, that he and his son, Mati City Councilor Cheeno Miguel Almario can attest to eco-cast’s durability when they visited Mati Ridge Homes site at night when the project was still being constructed.

“We dropped an eco-cast block from a certain height and we saw that it did not break to pieces. The same thing we did to a regular hollow block but the result was disappointing and expected, it broke to several pieces,” he said.

He also praised the company for establishing a housing project in the area, because it became a testament of how improved now the road infrastructure in Mati City and hopes that Maer Summit Properties will establish more projects like this in the near future.

The event, which was also graced by Maer Summit Properties’ Chief Executive Officer Dino Mae D. Suelto, coincided with the blessing and inauguration of Maer Summit Properties' new office in Mati City and Mati Ridge Homes' clubhouse.
