NLEX’s promising Cebuano big man William McAloney is on his way to the Blackwater Bossing after he was traded with guard Mike Ayonayon for veteran big man Marion Magat.

Although the trade has yet to be given the green light by the Commissioner’s Office, Blackwater head coach Ariel Vanguardia is eager to have the left-handed bruiser on his team as he continues to tinker with his roster in time for the season-ending Governors’ Cup.

Vanguardia likened McAloney’s potential to that of Vic Manuel, who like the latter, also stands 6-foot-4 and is known for his bruising style of play.

“He’s like a younger Vic Manuel,” Vanguardia shared in an article on Tiebreaker Times.

After helping steer the University of San Carlos Warriors to the 2015 Cesafi championship, McAloney suited up for his hometown Cebu Sharks in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and there, he began to gain attention due to his stellar double-double performances.

“It was in the MPBL where we saw him turn into a Vic Manuel of the future,” added Vanguardia.

More than anything, Vanguardia appreciates McAloney’s toughness and willingness to mix it up with the big boys of the PBA.

“He’s a fighter,” shared Vanguardia.
