THE Mambukal Resort in Murcia town, Negros Occidental will soon be reopened for fully vaccinated local tourists, an official said.

Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz II said they target to reopen the resort, which is currently being used as a coronavirus disease (Covid-19) quarantine facility, by December this year.

Diaz, however, said that it would depend if there will be no more positive patients to be admitted there.

As of Tuesday, November 16, there are only two patients left at the resort, he said.

Meanwhile, the provincial administrator disclosed that they will have a meeting with the mayors regarding the intensified vaccination roll-out of the province.

Earlier, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson set a target of two months to increase the number of inoculated individuals in the province after the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas said that the province is lagging behind in the vaccination drive compared to other areas in the region.

Diaz said that the province has enough vaccines and that they should be utilized, adding that the radio and social media campaign has already kicked off to encourage more residents to have themselves inoculated.

He said the governor asked everyone to cooperate with the province’s vaccination program.

"Right now, the only way you can go to Mambukal is when you are tested Covid-19 positive," Diaz said.

To intensify the inoculation drive in Negros Occidental, an information drive has been launched in various radio stations while incentives are being offered by the local government units for those who will be vaccinated.

"We need to educate them (the people) on vaccination’s benefits," Diaz said, adding that the province has more than enough supply of the anti-Covid-19 vaccines.*
