THE Department of Education (DepEd) launches today its own broadcasting studio, another important milestone to strengthen communications.
It is perfect timing as DepEd-Davao Region is chosen as a finalist for Most Outstanding in Information Dissemination both for Broadcast and Print Category. The Public Affairs Service of the Department headed by Director June Arvin C. Gudoy initiated the first Information Leaders Awards (Ilaw) to be participated in by all regions in the country.
DepEd-Davao Region, with its online broadcast dubbed as Diri sa DepEd Onse aired every Friday at 3 in the afternoon, has shown great potential in sharing significant human experiences of learners, teachers, parents, education leaders, community members, and all those involved in education.
It has become a household name bringing information and entertainment, at the same time, to Davao Region and all parts of the country. Its top viewers, aside from Davao Region, come from Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and Central Luzon.
This is reflected in its Facebook (FB) page analytics showing 20 to 40 percent of its viewers come from places outside Davao Region. This number accounts up to more than 15K views.
This number of views is attributed to DepEd Philippines FB page, the official social media page of DepEd, with more than 5 million followers. Since it is cross-posted on its page, Diri sa DepEd Onse can gather more views outside Davao Region.
Now that a broadcasting studio is set, the production of Diri sa DepEd Onse episodes would be easier for the team of DepEd. It cannot be denied that the working team has no top-of-the-line equipment when it all started its first couple of episodes but with creativity and innovation, the working teams would always come up with extraordinary segments.
With this broadcasting studio, coined as DepEd Region XI Broadcasting Studio located at DepEd-NEAP (National Educators Academy of the Philippines) building, it will become the educational media hub of the South that will provide capacity-building of teachers and education leaders on various learning delivery modalities particularly on broadcast media that are deemed relevant in facing the challenges of the new normal.
It will also be used for recording, revising, and editing of video and audio lessons; broadcasting and live streaming of regional activities; and production of Diri sa DepEd Onse.
Thanks to the Davao Filipino-Chinese Cultural Foundation, Inc. headed by Mr. Benito Mesina as its president. They have donated state-of-the-art and top-of-the-line equipment to the broadcasting studio.
During the Turnover Ceremony, Mr. Mesina will be with the Board of Directors - Mr. Lucio Ong and Mr. Lo Tung Hai, executive directors, Mr. George Wee Arquiza, Mr. Mark Henry Wee, Ms. Rosie Ong, directors, Ms. Beatrice Go, and Ms. Nelly Sia Agabin, special project implementors.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Atty. Zuleika Lopez, Davao City administrator, and Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines will be giving their message of support to DepEd.
The Turnover Ceremony will be livestreamed via the official FB page of DepEd Davao Region–DepEd Region XI.
Regional Director Allan G. Farnazo, who is so passionate about intensifying all the programs and projects of DepEd Davao Region, believes that this studio will bring more positive and colorful vibes to the region.
He always inspires the Communications Team to come up with brilliant and unforgettable Diri sa DepEd Onse episodes. After all, DepEd’s intention of this online broadcast is to share what has been done, what is it that they are doing, and what they will be doing in the future.
Assistant Regional Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, who worked hard for the realization of this broadcasting studio, gives all her support and guidance to improve the standards of DepEd.
