THE Danao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) reported the rescue of 17 passengers by Barangay Maslog fishermen from a capsized pump boat on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021.
Danao CDRRMO head Roland Reyes on a Facebook post said the pump boat came from Cebu City and was on its way to Bato, Leyte when it capsized.
All the passengers were rescued and were provided with food, clothes and other necessities by Barangay Maslog headed by its barangay captain, Nestor Colon, Reyes said.
Reyes said the passengers were turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office while the Coast Guard Danao conducted an investigation to find out why the pump boat capsized.
He said the incident was the second one that the Danao CDRRMO responded within 24 hours, as its team along with the Coast Guard also responded to a reported drowning incident off Barangay Dunggoan on Saturday evening.
