DA lauds best Gulayan sa Barangay in provincial, regional awards

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) honored the best community garden implementors in the Provincial and Regional Awarding of Best Gulayan sa Barangay held on November 18 in Lubao.

The 3rd Best Gulayan in the Barangay level went to the province of Bulacan.

Meanwhile, the Province of Aurora was awarded the 2nd Best Gulayan Sa Barangay, while Nueva Ecija won this year’s 1st Best Gulayan sa Barangay.

The first and second placers will represent the region in the National Level Best Gulayan in the whole Philippines.

Apart from the three Best Gulayan sa Barangay, other provinces also won some special awards, such as Best in Gulayan sa Barangay Crop Museum, Seedbank, Household Replications, Garden Innovations, Recycled Material, Audio Visual Presentation, Storage, Scrapbook, Nursery, Community Pantry and Value-Added Products.

The winners of the Regional High Value Crops Development Program were carefully selected under the leadership of Regional High Value Crops Development Coordinator Engr. AB Pangilinan-David.

The said award was attended by Undersecretary for High Value Crops and Rural Credit Evelyn G. Laviña; Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista Jr.; Regional Technical Director for Operation & Extension and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service Division Eduardo L. Lapuz; Regional Technical Director for Research, Regulatory, and Integrated Laboratories Arthur D. Dayrit; Agricultural Provincial Coordinating Officers of each province of Central Luzon; and the nominated unique vegetables in the Barangay of each of the Provinces of Central Luzon.
