AS THE Mambukal Resort in Murcia town, Negros Occidental is reopening for fully vaccinated tourists on December 1, new protocols will be implemented.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said vehicles will no longer be allowed to enter the resort's premises, while open burning of waste will also not be permitted.

Diaz said they are reviewing if they will still allow open fire cooking within the resort as smokes drive away wildlife animals in the area like bats.

Mambukal is home to three species of bats, namely, the Philippine Flying Fox, the Negros naked-back fruit bat and the little golden mantled flying fox.

Two of the species are already classified as endangered.

"The resort has already been dedicated to wildlife conservation efforts also. The bats are coming back (and) hopefully, we can enjoy without degrading the environment and without driving away our important species of animals," Diaz said.

Those who are interested in booking a reservation can visit the Mambukal's office located at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park in Bacolod City.

Mambukal was closed to the public in 2020 after it was converted into a coronavirus disease (Covid-19) quarantine facility.
