EMPLOYEES who will be vaccinated during the three-day National Vaccination Days should be excused from work and not marked as absent.

In Proclamation 1253 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, he declared November 29, 30 and December 1 as “Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Covid-19 Vaccination Days.”

“Employees and workers of the government and the private sector who will be vaccinated during the aforesaid period shall not be considered absent from their work,” the proclamation reads.

“Provided that they present proof of vaccination to their respective employers, subject to rules that may be issued by the DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) and the Civil Service Commission,” it added.

The National Government aims to vaccinate around 15 million people during the national vaccination days, which will be led by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The DOH earlier urged the local government units to simplify the process in order to encourage more people to avail themselves of the inoculation. Walk-in vaccinees are welcome.

It also said the initial vaccination will be prioritized but there will also be booster vaccination.

So far, 41.9 million adults have received their first dose in the Philippines, while 33.5 others have been fully vaccinated. (SunStar Philippines)
