BACOLOR Mayor Eduardo Datu distributed a total of P2.4 million in financial assistance to 1,200 college students from the town.
Datu said the students received P2,000 each to help them and their parents with their financial needs.
Most of the beneficiaries are college students studying in different schools in Pampanga.
“We believe that it takes a village to educate a child. In this case, the town would like to contribute a little to the burden of expenses that parents would shoulder in sending their children to school,” he added.
The mayor said his administration has a policy of making the assistance program accessible to ordinary students.
Datu instructed his staff to give due attention to students who would like to pursue their education and finish college degrees.
He said people who have college degrees have greater chances of getting good employment.
In his message, Datu urged student beneficiaries to strive for better grades and to take their studies seriously.
He also urged parents to help in their children’s education by providing them with proper guidance.
