Bacolod City, NegOcc log 78 single-day Covid-19 deaths

DESPITE being classified as Alert Level 2 in terms of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) transmission, Negros Occidental and Bacolod City recorded 78 new deaths just for Wednesday, November 24.

This brought the total number of casualties in both the province and its capital city to 1,499 as of Wednesday, records from the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas showed.

Of the 78, Bacolod City logged 45 new deaths, bringing the total number of Covid-related deaths in the city to 707.

Negros Occidental, on the other hand, was noted to have 33 new deaths.

The province now has 792 total deaths due to the disease, it added.

In terms of new cases, Negros Occidental and Bacolod City recorded 30 and 18 cases, respectively.

The city logged eight recoveries while the province has 21.

Active cases in Negros Occidental are 1,538, while Bacolod City has 562.

Since the pandemic started the combined total number of Covid-19 cases in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental stood at 57,598.

As of November 18, Negros Occidental's average daily attack rate or the number of new cases for every 100,000 population over the past two weeks is at 1.51 percent and 3.20 percent for Bacolod City.

The two-week growth rate or the percentage of increase or decrease in the number of new Covid-19 cases in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City are down to 56 percent and 59 percent, respectively.

Positivity rate in Negros Occidental is at nine percent and 11 percent in Bacolod City while the hospitalization rate in the province is 31.43 percent and 37.55 percent for the city, it added.
