5 more Delta variant cases detected in Cagayan de Oro

FIVE additional Delta variant cases were detected in Cagayan de Oro, bringing the total case count to 100, City Health Office (CHO) medical officer Dr. Ted Yu reported.

According to Yu, of the five new Delta cases, four were females and one was a male.

He added that the specimens were collected for genome testing on October 30 to 31 and November 2, 2021.

The youngest in this new batch of Delta cases is nine years old, while the oldest is 72 years old.

Yu said that of the five new Delta variant cases, three were declared clinically recovered, one was tested negative RT PCR and one died.

Four of them, including the one who died, were at the city isolation units prior to their first swab test, while the other one was transferred within the day to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility upon receiving the positive result.

He said three of the Delta cases, including the death case, were unvaccinated, and the other two were fully vaccinated.

The CHO medical officer said that of the five new Delta variant cases, two were residents of Barangay Macasandig, one from Barangay Balulang, one from Barangay Camaman-an, and one from Barangay Patag.

The contact tracing for the close contacts of the Delta variant cases is still ongoing, Yu said.
