Adiwang faces former UFC fighter Brooks in ONE: ‘NextGen III’

FAST-rising strawweight prospect Lito Adiwang faces the stiffest test of his career as he takes on former UFC fighter Jarred Brooks Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, in the main event of ONE: “NextGen III” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

After a controversial split decision defeat to Hiroba Minowa in 2020, Adiwang quickly bounced back and beat Namiki Kawahara by a second round knockout and Hexigetu via a unanimous decision this year.

Adiwang, the No. 5 ranked strawweight, welcomes Brooks to the ONE Championship.

Brooks is coming back from a long layoff. He last saw action in Bellator MMA: “Fedor vs. Rampage” in 2019 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Brooks had a two-year stint in the UFC, wherein he went 2-2. He beat Roberto Sanchez and Eric Shelton but lost to former UFC flyweight king Deiveson Figueiredo and Jose Torres.

Adiwang, one of the most exciting fighters in the ONE Championship roster, is 13-3, while Brooks is 16-2.

Former world title challenger Rene Catalan takes on ex-ONE strawweight titleholder Alex Silva in a rematch that’s eight years in the making. Catalan fought Silva in his ONE debut back in 2013. Catalan lost to Silva via a first round armbar submission.

The 42-year-old Catalan is in dire need of a win after losing back-to-back contests against ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio and Bokang Masuyane. He beat Japanese Haruo Ochi by unanimous decision.

Silva, in the meantime, looks to get his second straight victory and keep his No. 4 ranking for another run at the title.

Catalan is 10-6, while Silva is 6-4.
