New Covid-19 cases stay below 1,000

FOR the third straight day, less than 1,000 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH).

In its 4 p.m. November 26 bulletin, the DOH said 863 new infections were reported, while the positivity rate of the country was at 2.5 percent out of the 38,998 tests conducted last November 24.

The country’s total case count was already 2,830,387.

Of the confirmed cases, 142 new deaths were reported, raising the death toll to 48,017.

The case fatality rate stood at 1.70 percent.

The health department also reported 791 additional recoveries that brought the total number of patients who have recovered from the disease to 2,764,517.

This means that 97.7 percent of the Covid-19 patients in the country were able to recover, said the DOH.

The active cases remained at 17,853, which is 0.6 percent of the Philippines’ Covid-19 cases.

More than half or 51.5 percent of the active infections were considered mild, 21.5 percent were moderate, 14.2 percent were severe, 6.6 percent were asymptomatic and 6.1 percent were critical. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
