Cuneta joins 'Ang Probinsyano' talks preparation, leading man Martin

Megastar Sharon Cuneta appeared for the first time on “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” on Nov. 26. Prior to this, Cuneta’s first and only TV series was “Madam Chairman” broadcasted in 2013.

Earlier this month, Cuneta divulged to ABS-CBN reporter Gretchen Fullido—who moderated the recent media conference for the Megastar’s entry to the six-year-old television series—that her entry to the series will revive the decades old Sharon Cuneta-Rowell Santiago loveteam.

According to Cuneta, the “reunion” will entail “a long flashback, a long back story,” to introduce her character to the picture.

Her preparation for her participation in the series was “more mental and emotional than physical,” as she is on a “gradual weight loss program” for the last five years now.

As for possible action scenes, the Megastar revealed her training sessions in horseback riding, in shooting, in archery (her favorite sports in high school) and swimming (her “love” in her younger years).

About working during the pandemic, she said that working in a locked-in environment is not new to her as she had already experienced this while filming “Revirginized” earlier this year. She hopes her participation in the series will add luster and beauty to the series, her being a team-player who loves to give her best every time.

“Ang Probinsyano” is top-billed by leading actor Coco Martin. Aside from Martin, Cuneta looks forward to acting side-by-side her friends in the series like Lorna Tolentino, Rosanna Roces, Susan Roces and Tommy Abuel.

She has high praises for Martin for giving the Cardo Dalisay character his own distinctive flavor apart from the way Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) himself portrayed it. She also pointed out Martin’s efforts in making the “Probinsyano” team feel like a family which requires only 12-hours work instead of the usual taping that runs till the wee hours of the morning.

This, according to the Megastar, makes Martin “the star that he is now.”

Catch “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” on the Kapamilya Channel, with simulcasts on Cine Mo! and Jeepney TV. The series is also available online via iWantTFC, TFC IPTV and Kapamilya Online Live. Global audiences can catch it via The Filipino Channel.
