A CANDIDATE for councilor in San Simon, Pampanga was shot dead by still unknown gunmen along San Simon-Baliwag Road early morning of Saturday, November 27.

Rogelio Salvador, also a former chairman of Barangay Concepcion, sustained multiple gunshots that led to his immediate death while onboard the passenger seat of his vehicle.

His driver and nephew identified as Joel Salvador was also declared dead on the spot, while another victim identified as Arnel Caparas was rushed to the hospital, said this town’s chief of police Major Jessie James Domingo.

Domingo furthered that thorough investigation is still ongoing as the identification of the suspects and their motive are still unknown.

“Pinapacheck na po ang mga CCTV cameras within the vicinity kung may napadaan man na kahi-hinala, lahat po ipapareview natin,” he said.

The portion of San Simon-Baliwag road is surrounded by farmlands and is rarely traversed by motorists.

Meanwhile, the aspiring councilor’s brother, Roy, is calling for justice for the sudden and violent death of their loved ones.

He disclosed that Salvador has been receiving death threats but ignored them and pursued his will of serving Simonians.

Acting Leonora Wong, for her part, assured that she will seek justice on the death of Salvador and his nephew Joel.

She also assured the victims’ family that she will personally shoulder the burial and hospital expenses to lessen their burden, and allow them to grieve properly.

As acting mayor and head of the Kambilan Party, Wong condemned the killing of their fellow public servant and Simonian.

She also asked her fellow Simonians to continue praying for peace and safety within their community, especially during this election season.

Liga ng mga Barangay President Randie Flores also denounced the killing of their former colleague and fellow public servant.
