San Carlos City acquires new patrol boat

THE City Government of San Carlos City has purchased a new patrol and rescue boat to secure its sea jurisdiction.

Mayor Renato Gustilo and Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona inspected the newly purchased 36 Interceptor Open Fast Patrol and Rescue 36 footer speed boat on Saturday, November 27.

The vessel worth P11.5 million is funded by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO).

City DRRM Officer Joe Recalex Alingasa Jr. said the rescue and patrol boat will be co-managed by the CDRRMO, City Environment Management Office-Coastal Resources Management Division, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police-Maritime Group for its patrol and rescue operations especially in the island of Sipaway and city’s coastal barangays.

Alingasa also thanked Gustilo and the Sangguniang Panlungsod members for their support in acquiring the equipment.

This is very important in times of emergency needs of the constituents, he added.

The patrol vessel comes with additional trailers and complete accessories including medical and safety kits inside.

It has a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour and complete heavy-duty fiberglass construction with narrow tunnel catamaran (tunnel hull design), overall length of 38 feet with beam/width of 10 feet and draft of 1.5-2 feet with capacity of 20 to25 persons.

It is also equipped with communications and GPS/chart plotter equipment and complete radar with mounting, public address system, remote searchlight and LED blinkers.
