Presidential aspirant ‘Isko’ gives over P9M to Mambaling fire victims

EACH of the 944 families displaced by the fire that hit Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City received P10,000 in cash assistance from Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, a presidential aspirant, on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021.

Domagoso visited the families at the school where they have been evacuated following the blaze that destroyed over 500 houses in Sitio Lawis, Mambaling, a densely populated village in the city’s urban area, on Friday evening, Nov. 26.

The presidential aspirant was accompanied by his team and Deputy Speaker Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, the secretary-general of One Cebu party.

In his speech, Moreno said he told the families that he had learned of their plight while he was in Quezon Province. He decided to fly over to Cebu to distribute the cash assistance, telling the families that Mambaling is close to his heart because the village resembles that of Tondo, a gritty and densely populated neighborhood in Manila.

“Noong 2016, pumunta ako rito. Para kong nakita dito ang Tondo. Walang pinagka-iba,” said Moreno.

In an interview with reporters, Moreno said that he will not be attending any meetings aside from visiting the fire victims, but he will be back again in Cebu this December.

Moreno asked for all kinds of support, especially from the Cebuanos, to help him in his presidential bid in the 2022 elections.

He said he will exert effort to persuade and get the trust of every Cebuano living in any part of the Philippines.

Moreno, a former actor, also said that he prayed that One Cebu, a provincial party headed by Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, would help his presidential run.

“Siyempre, ang dalangin ko that someday, matutulongan ako ng One Cebu, ni Governor Gwen at Congressman PJ,” he said.
