CEBU City Hall will conduct an investigation on one of its staff who was arrested in an entrapment operation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Central Visayas on Friday, November 25, 2021.

Mayor Michael Rama said he will investigate the actions of Kara Marie Arcilla-Bargamento, administrative aide III of Cebu City Hall, in-charge of the Market Operations Division (MOD) of Freedom Park and Warwick Barracks.

Rama said the offices of the Human Resources Department, City Legal Office, and resident Ombudsman will investigate it.

Rama believes that somebody else is involved in this anomaly.

"It might be the tip of the iceberg...it's a lot of work," Rama said.

Rama said he had already instructed the Human Resource Office to prepare the termination papers for Arcilla.

He said in his administration there is no room for corruption.

"Corruption is not my cup of tea," so staff involved in corruption no longer need to be warned, he said.

Bargamento allegedly demanded P100,000 per vendor for the "prime location" within the modern market and the temporary relocation of vendors.

NBI-Central Visayas has already filed a case for violation of Republic Act 3019, or Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, after inquest proceedings. (REV)
