MEMBERS of Partido Barug, Cebu City's administration party, are set to decide on December 10, 2021 whom they will endorse for President following the withdrawal of Senator Christopher "Bong" Go as presidential candidate.

On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Go withdrew from his bid for president in next year's elections following concerns from his family.

In a phone interview with SunStar Cebu, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama commended Go's act as a "show of respect" to the family of President Rodrigo Duterte.

"It is a commendable act on Bong Go's part because he wants to present the family and you know I have the statement politics will pass, friendship should last, family ties cast and that is where he was holding his ground and for me that was very commendable. He was showing respect on his part to keep the family of Duterte intact," Rama said.

With Go's withdrawal, Partido Barug, in which Rama is currently the standard bearer, will have to decide on whom they will support for president in next year's elections.

But their decision to support vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will stand.

"Now that Bong Go has withdrawn, we are awaiting on who PRRD and Bong Go will support and endorse for President. The time frame would be on or before December 10," Rama added.

With Go now out of the race, Partido Barug will have to choose between the remaining presidential candidates still on the running: Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso; former senator and dictator's son Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., incumbent Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson and Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo.
