Central Luzon nearly halfway in achieving herd immunity

CENTRAL Luzon is nearly halfway in vaccinating 70 percent of its total population, data from Department of Health (DOH)-Central Luzon showed.

On its Monday bulletin, November 29, DOH-Central Luzon reported that some 4,276,997 individuals in the region are already fully immunized from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

This is equivalent to 48.83 percent of the 70 percent of the total population in the entire region, the report added.

DOH is targeting to vaccinate at least 70 percent of the country’s population to achieve herd immunity, or the immunization of the large portion of the population to minimize, if not totally eliminate, the spread of the disease.

Meanwhile, DOH-Central Luzon also reported that some 5,866,455 individuals or 66.97 percent of the 70 percent of population have also received their first dose of the vaccine.

The number is expected to dramatically rise in the coming days as the DOH targets to vaccinate 1.5 million individuals during the three-day National Vaccination Days, which will end Wednesday, December 1.
