ALL residents of Cebu City who are eligible for vaccination against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) should get vaccinated by Dec. 31, 2021 because by then, only those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed inside establishments.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama also made the statement Wednesday, Dec. 1, in relation to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ Resolutions 148-B and 149 prohibiting unvaccinated persons from doing on-site work.
The IATF had said that by Dec. 1, unvaccinated workers would be barred from entering their workplaces unless they could present a negative RT-PCR test result every two weeks.
“I also intend to implement it in the City Hall because why not? ... This is to keep everybody safe. However, we will still be abiding by the process and hopefully, by Dec. 31, all City Hall employees will be vaccinated. Remember, bonus can only be released to the vaccinated people,” Rama said. Rama also said he wants all eligible residents of Cebu City vaccinated by Dec. 31 because by then, all establishments will be opened and only those who are fully vaccinated will be welcome to go inside.
Those who are not vaccinated will be required to present a negative RT-PCR test result before entering any kind of establishment.
Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) head Dr. Jeffrey Ibones said massive vaccination will continue in the city after the Nov. 29-Dec. 1 national vaccination drive since the City received 50,000 more doses of Covid-19 vaccines aside from the 60,000 doses earlier provided by the Department of Health.
The City used 91 vaccination sites for the three-day drive, during which it inoculated at least 60,000 persons in the first two days alone.
Ibones said the CCHD will create cluster vaccination sites, especially in the barangays where fewer than 200 doses were administered per day, so that medical personnel could be pooled at the clustered areas, enabling them to vaccinate more people. (CAL, PAC / CTL)
