TEN days after he escaped from the custodial facility of Candoni Municipal Police Station, a detainee was recaptured in Barangay Cabia-an in the town around 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Captain Ronald Santillan, chief of Candoni Municipal Police Station, said Ronilo Casipong, 41, of Barangay West in the town was arrested with the help of a concerned citizen.

Santillan said they were informed that Casipong was hiding somewhere in Sitio Nailan.

Investigation showed that on the evening of November 21, Casipong called the attention of the jailer, whose name was not disclosed, complaining that he was having a stomachache.

The jailer then gave him a glass of warm water, but while he was opening the detention cell, Casipong hastily came out and pushed the jailer inside the nearby restroom, Santillan said.

He said Casipong escaped towards the open back door of the police station, adding that the policemen chased the detainee but failed to catch up with him.

Casipong was initially charged for rape and was arrested on November 11 this year but his case was reduced to sexual assault.
