AUTHORITIES of Clark Freeport recently intercepted P3 million worth of suspected shabu placed inside baggage which arrived as a shipment from Strand, South Africa.
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark arrested the shipment consignee who was residing in Hermosa Bataan province.
BOC Clark said the operation was a result of information they received on November 30, 2021, that stated that illegal drugs concealed inside a traveling bag were about to arrive at the Port of Clark.
BOC personnel immediately coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Enforcement Security Service (ESS), Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF) and the operator of a warehouse in Clark.
Upon the arrival of the shipment, which was declared as clothing, the baggage was subjected to X-Ray scanning and K9 sweeping.
Customs officers discovered the illegal drugs contained in bowls, figurines, clothing, slippers and a brown pouch.
Samples of the narcotics, weighing 470 grams, were turned over to the PDEA for final evaluation.
PDEA is now preparing charges against the suspect, who was not identified by authorities.
