THE Department of Health (DOH) 7 said the number of a region’s eligible population to be vaccinated should be considered in assessing the vaccination performance of the different regions in the country.

This as Central Visayas ranked fourth among the 17 regions in the number of unvaccinated individuals.

It also ranked fourth in regions with the highest number of targeted individuals to be vaccinate in the country with 5,638,340.

“Compared to other regions in the Visayas, we have the highest number of targets reached in terms of the jab. If you look at the daily accomplishment of the province, we are already averaging at a normal day at 38,235 and if you look at our accomplishment for the three-day National Covid-19 Vaccination Days, we reached 631,000 or an average of 210,406 per day,” Van Philip Baton, medical coordinator for emerging and re-emerging infectious disease program of the DOH 7 said in a press briefing on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021.

Baton said in terms of population, Region 3 (Central Luzon) and Region 4A (Calabarzon) also have the highest number of vaccinated individuals outside of the National Capital Region but they are also in the Top 2 and Top 3 of unvaccinated individuals by virtue of their bigger population.

In the three-day national vaccination drive, Region 7 administered 644,706 doses—564,317 for the first dose, 71,942 for the second dose and 8,447 for the booster or additional doses.

The region had a 715,473 committed three-day target.

Cebu topped all provinces in the region with 253,434 administered doses. It is followed by Bohol, 130,242; Negros Oriental, 80,928; and Siquijor, 6,877.

Cebu City administered 104,101 doses; Lapu-Lapu City, 43,097; and Mandaue City, 26,027.
