THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) caught 127 persons who violated the new curfew that was implemented on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021.
Mayor Michael Rama issued a directive that changed the previous curfew of from 11:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. He shortened the curfew for adults to three hours, and extended the curfew for minors to six hours.
The new curfew—10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for minors and 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. for adults—was implemented Thursday.
The number of curfew violators nabbed by the CCPO personnel did not include the apprehensions made by the Cebu City Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) team.
The CCPO also caught 36 individuals for not observing minimum health standards such as wearing a face mask.
Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, CCPO deputy director for operation, said tanods (watchmen) and the police officers assigned in barangays are tasked to enter the sitios at night to remind minors and adults who are still outside their residences about the new curfew.
The CCPO has urged the city residents to abide by the curfew as it is for their own good.
Despite the decreasing number of Covid-19 cases in Cebu City, Parilla said the cases could increase again if people do not follow the health protocols set by authorities.
