Rainy days ahead in Central Visayas, other areas in PH due to trough of ‘Nyatoh,’ Pagasa says

CENTRAL Visayas and other areas in the country will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the trough of typhoon Nyatoh (international name), which the state weather bureau said is no longer expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 that the typhoon is expected to decelerate on Saturday, Dec. 4 due to its circulation, likely turning south to southwest beginning late Saturday or early Sunday, Dec. 5.

Pagasa-Mactan bureau chief Al Quiblat said the trough is an extension of typhoon Nyatoh, and he cautioned fishermen of strong winds over the seas.

“Strong winds are still expected within three to four days. However, we are not sure whether the winds would persist. So, the public are reminded to monitor the Pagasa for updates like the issuance of a gale warning,” he said.

In a weather bulletin on Friday, Pagasa said the northeast monsoon or “Amihan” is affecting Luzon and Visayas.

Pagasa’s forecast stated that Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Provinces and the southern portion of Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands, will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of typhoon Nyatoh.

The rest of the Visayas, the rest of Palawan and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rainshowers due to the northeast monsoon.

Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to north will prevail over Visayas, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands with moderate to rough seas.
