Suarez scores UD win over Pellio

FORMER Olympian Charly Suarez continues his hot streak in the pro ranks after a convincing unanimous decision win over previously unbeaten prospect Delmar Pellio in the main event of VSP Promotions’ “Ultimate Knockout Challenge” last Dec. 4, 2021 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.

The 33-year-old Suarez dropped Pellio twice en route to a comfortable decision win.

The scores were 99-89, 99-89 and 100-88 in favor of Suarez.

Suarez showcased his punching power and accuracy. But Pellio refused to back down and traded blows with Suarez up until the final bell despite being dropped twice.

Suarez remained unbeaten and improved to 9-0 with six knockouts, while the 21-year-old Pellio suffered his first career defeat and dropped to 9-1 with four knockouts.

Unbeaten prospect Carl Jammes Martin (18-0, 15 KOs) overcame his stiffest test to date after beating experienced Mark Anthony Geraldo (38-10-3, 19 KOs) by unanimous decision in a competitive fight.

The 22-year-old Martin got the nod of all three judges with scores of 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113.

Martin won the vacant Philippine super bantamweight belt.

On the other hand, Michael Dasmarinas (30-3-2, 20 KOs) and fellow former world title challenger Ernesto Saulong (22-7-3, 9 KOs) settled to a second round technical draw.

The fight was cut short after Saulong suffered a huge gash on his left eyelid after an accidental clash of heads.

In the undercard, Jon Jon Estrada (14-8-1, 13 KOs) knocked out Jestine Tesoro (5-3, 2 KOs) in the third round, Lorenz Ladrada (11-2-1, 3 KOs) beat Jason Buenaobra (7-6-3, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision, Jules Victoriano (10-4, 7 KOs) scored a fourth round knockout over veteran Jetro Pabustan (30-9-6, 9 KOs), Virgel Vitor (16-2, 9 KOs) defeated Lorence Rosas (9-7-2, 3 KOs) by decision, Al Toyogon (11-6-1, 7 KOs) destroyed Lloyd Jardeliza (8-12-4, 6 KOs) in two rounds, and Leonardo Doronio (18-18-3, 11 KOs) defeated Jimmy Borbon (7-10-4, 4 KOs) by split decision.
