THE Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. Micro-Finance Inc. (RAFI MFI) and its academe partners-Negros Oriental State University, Central Philippine University and Visayas State University are working together to provide sustainable livelihood to the residents in Iloilo, Dumaguete and Baybay, Leyte.

“We agreed to collaborate and establish the Sustainable Livelihood Training Program, where we will provide support services through training of our targeted clients and enhance their skills based on marketable skills within the locality or outside the community,” said Jonar Dorado, RAFI MFI chief operations officer, in a statement.

Dorado the partnership with the academe would provide the free use of their facilities for the project and provide the resource speakers on certain fields of expertise. RAFI MFI, on the other hand, will provide an online platform, which can be accessed through designated learning hub facilities. This platform will contribute to providing the learning modules and ensure that the project will be up to the RAFI MFI standards.

Beneficiaries who will avail themselves of the program, can learn skills that they can use to improve their livelihood such as cookery, food preparation and even in agriculture among others. They will also be provided with physical resources like brochures and training materials and an access to digital platforms and tools to grow their livelihood. Successful trainees will be given access to financial resources.

This latest partnership is in line with RAFI MFI’s “Bugsay philosophy” of helping individuals to help themselves by providing them with the “bugsay” or paddle or the tools to improve their lives.(with PR)
