3 nabbed, P13.6-M shabu seized in Sulu anti-drug sting

A VILLAGE official and two others were arrested, while P13.6 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation Saturday, December 4, in Indanan, Sulu.

The Indanan Municipal Police Station identified the arrested persons as Ilahan Yahya, 48, a councilor in the village of Gata-Gata, Panglima Estino, Sulu; Elwina Unaid, 24, student; and Muride Ahajan, 31.

The police said the suspects were arrested in an anti-drug operation around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4, at Kilometer 2 in Kajatian village, Indanan, Sulu.

Seized from the suspects were two kilos of substance believed to be shabu worth P13.6 million, P1.1 million boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 as marked money placed in a plastic bag, a four-wheel vehicle, a cellular phone, a sling bag and eight identification cards.

The suspects were nabbed by a joint team of policemen, soldiers, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives.

They were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.

Police Brigadier General Eden Ugale, Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro autonomous Region director, lauded the operating personnel and units for the operation. (SunStar Zamboanga)
