Sipaway environment-friendly homestay winners awarded

THE San Carlos City Environment Management Office has awarded the winners of the Search for Sipaway Environment-Friendly Homestay Year II at the City Council Session Hall on Friday, December 3.

Alvin Mancao was hailed champion and received P30,000 in cash prize.

He also bagged the model in the waste water management technology special award.

The second place award went to Luz Laspobres receiving a cash prize of P25,000.

She also won the special award for the appropriate structural component in terms of the natural landscape of the place.

In third place was Amie Pasustento, who received P20,000 and a special award as a model in solid waste management initiative.

Elorde Ecoy placed fourth, receiving P15,000, while Lynbert Genon came in fifth place with a prize of P10,000.

Genon also got an outstanding housekeeping operation award.

Others who received special awards included Celeste Lagare, well-built homestay; Samson Ecoy, appropriate landscaping technique; Lorna Yardley for most improved homestay; Nestor Ecoy; model in food security initiative; and Gary Rigor, most hospitable homestay.

Homestay owners who received special awards also brought home P3,000.

Other participating homeowners also received certificates and consolation prizes worth P5,000 each.

Mayor Renato Gustilo, Integrated Waste Management/Pollution Control Division Head Engineer Arthur Batomalaque and City Environment Management Office IEC Team Leader Marietta Lomocso led the awarding rites.

Also present were search evaluators, Melbert Liboon of Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology, Architect Lori Mae Sanchez of the City Planning Development Coordinator's Office and City Tourism Office representative Jose Winnie Chavez. (PR)
