NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has urged the local government units (LGUs) in the province to prepare for the second run of the Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Covid-19 Vaccination Days set on December 15 to 17.
The province topped the recent three-day National Bakunahan drive in Western Visayas with 213,291 persons vaccinated, records from the Regional Vaccination Center of the Department of Health-Western Visayas showed.
The province also exceeded its target of 150,000 for three days or a daily target of 50,000.
On November 29, Negros Occidental vaccinated 68,911; November 30 -- 71,012; and December 1 -- 73,368.
Lacson said Negros Occidental made a good record during the first national vaccinations days as it hit 142 percent vaccination output.
The governor acknowledged the good performances of the cities of Sagay, Cadiz, Bago and Himamaylan in the drive.
But Lacson still urged the mayors to always remind their respective constituents not to be complacent amid the Alert Level 2 status of the province in terms of Covid-19 risk transmission.
“Let us always remind our constituents to continue practicing the primary health protocols which is the wearing of the face mask,” Lacson said.
"Covid is still around so we should never let our guards down," he added.
