Over 385,000 vaccinated during Bayanihan Bakunahan

A TOTAL of 385,824 individuals in Davao Region were vaccinated during the week-long Bayanihan Bakunahan: National Vaccination Day (NVD) from November 29 to December 3, 2021.

Based on the report by the Department of Health (DOH) Davao, a total of 366,639 vaccines were administered during the first 3 days of the NVD.

An additional 19,185 doses were also recorded during the extension on December 2-3. However, this is still a partial number because some local government units (LGUs) have yet to submit their reports.

Dr. Janis Olavides, Vaccination Team Leader of DOH Davao, said during a virtual presser on Monday, December 6, the NVD saw an increase in vaccinees per day compared to the number they got prior to the mass vaccination event.

“If we compare our data, prior to the NVD, mu-generate ta ug 73,000 the whole region, highest but in one day during the NVD, we reached as high as 128,000,” said Olavides.

According to her, compared to the numbers generated prior to the NVD mass vaccination, Davao City increased their daily average of administered doses by 35 percent during the NVD, while Davao de Oro increased 91 percent. Davao del Norte increased by 135 percent in a day compared to their previous highest record of 16,067 jabs.

Davao del Sur also increased by 154 percent, Davao Occidental increased by 57 percent, and Davao Oriental increased by 58 percent.

“These are good numbers and we are hoping dili lang ni karon but every day, lalo na katong mga (especially those who are) unvaccinated,” Olavides said.

Meanwhile, DOH-Davao is already preparing for the upcoming second round of the Bayanihan Bakunahan: National Vaccination Day set on December 15-17 as per Olavides.

She said that DOH-Davao is already assuring the doses and syringes needed for the mass vaccination event.

“Ang una nato gina-assure is naa ta coming pa na mga doses gikan sa central as well as atoang mga syringes (We assure that additional doses and syringes will be delivered),” she said. “Sa pagkakaron atong mga probinsya aware na naay coming na (The provinces are aware about) NVD round two.”
