VENDORS and customers of the Carbon Public Market in Cebu City are urged to continue to follow health and safety protocols especially that more people are expected to flock to the market during the Christmas season.

During a press conference during the launching of this year’s “Pasko sa Carbon” on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, Cebu City councilor Joel Garganera reminded vendors and market-goers to follow health and safety protocols, wear their masks, avoid touching their faces, wash their hands and observe social distancing especially if they are inside the market.

Garganera, who is also the deputy chief implementer of the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), made the reminder as a way to prevent another possible Covid-19 surge during the holidays.

“We must remember that Covid is still around. Our lives are at stake here, so we should do our best to keep everyone safe. We should cooperate, and we should be careful and vigilant at all times,” Garganera said.

Brgy. Ermita, Cebu City Councilor Maria Pino told reporters during the press conference that one of the activities during this year’s Pasko sa Carbon is the scheduled nine-day Misa de Gallo at the market starting Dec. 16 and the ceremonial lighting of the market’s Christmas tree.
