THE total number of fully vaccinated individuals in Cagayan de Oro is now at 337,567, the City Health Office reported.

As of December 7, Cagayan de Oro has administered a total of 864,126 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines. The number of individuals who got their first dose of the vaccindes was at 524,312, and those who got their booster shots was at 2,247.

According to City Health Office medical officer Dr. Ted Yu, Cagayan de Oro will be able to achieve herd immunity around the second week of January 2022.

"Sa ating target, by end of this year, due to the interval, maka hit na tayo ng 90 percent of the second dose on the second week of January 2022," Yu said.

Mayor Oscar Moreno, for his part, said the city will not stop its vaccination rollout even when it achieves herd immunity.

"We will not stop sa atong first dose. Ang nangyari ngayon, I remember na the Department of Health might target a higher herd immunity level," Moreno said.

This is echoed by Yu, who said that the health department is thinking of increasing the herd immunity level to 80 or 85 percent.

"Especially na merong indication nang Omicron is more transmissible than Delta," Moreno said.

Of the 337,567 fully vaccinated individuals, 27,864 were frontline healthcare workers, 36,833 were senior citizens, 64,186 were persons with comorbidities, 157,246 were essential frontline workers, 16,490 were from the A5 priority group, 22,123 were from the ROAP groups, and 12,825 were from Pedia A3 and ROPP groups.
