THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City noted a 4.66 percent increase in voters' registration for May 9, 2022 polls, Election Officer Katrina Trinio-Caña said.

Trinio-Caña said that as of Wednesday, December 8, they already have 327,403 voters compared to 312,000 in 2019.

She said some of the aspirant candidates for the 2022 elections were already asking for a copy of the registered voters in the city, but for now, they cannot release it since they are still waiting for approval from the Comelec national office.

In October this year, the Comelec held the Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing for new voter registrants.

Most of the complaints filed against the registrants were also withdrawn by the complainants.

Trinio-Caña said the complainants decided to withdraw their opposition after they determined that those applicants were really residents of their barangays.

Comelec-Bacolod also submitted its proposed number of precincts to the Comelec En Banc for the 2022 elections.

Trinio-Caña said Bacolod City has identified 45 public schools as voting centers for next year’s elections, composed of 450 clustered precincts and 1,350 teachers, who will serve as members of the electoral board.

She said all the election officers will undergo training in preparation for the 2022 elections next week.
