“NELIA” promises to bring intrigue, suspense and thrills during the holidays when cinemas nationwide open for the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) from Dec. 25, 2021 to Jan. 7, 2022.

“Nelia,” the only suspense thriller film in the 47th Metro Manila Film Festival 2021, is directed by Lester Dimaranan with screenplay written by one of its producers Melanie Honey Quiño Marquez.

In the film, the title role is portrayed by beauty queen Winwyn Marquez. She is a nurse whose womanly instincts and gut feel are aroused because of the mysterious cases happening in the hospital where she works. To what revelations her curiosity will lead her to uncover, all of it will be unraveled in this contemporary motion picture.

“I was watching the livestream during the film’s announcement,” said Marquez.

“I was nervous, of course. The rest of the films in the festivals also featured big names and the movies look excellently made. When our film came up, I couldn’t believe it. I felt so many mixed emotions. I’m so grateful that I was selected to play Nelia, because I know how everybody from the cast to the crew gave the film their all,” she said.

“Nelia” features an impressive cast of Filipino A-list actors that include Raymond Bagatsing (Dr. Rey), Dexter Doria, Lloyd Samartino, Dan Alvaro, Ali Forbes, Shido Roxas and Mon Confiado.

Also in the cast are Sarah Javier, April Anne Dolot, Massey Sanshoddin, Red Atienza, and introducing Juan Carlos Galano and Aldwin Alegre.

Shot in the picturesque city of Gapan in Nueva Ecija, “Nelia” is the first of many quality and entertaining film offerings from A and Q Productions Film Inc. The power tandem behind A and Q Productions Film Inc. are lawyers Aldwin F. Alegre and Mary Melanie H. Quiño.

#MMFFNelia is showing in Cinema 2, SM City Cebu starting Dec. 25. Watch the trailer online. (PR)
