RICE farmers of Dipolog City and other parts of the province of Zamboanga del Norte can now learn the best practices and technologies that will help them increase their farm yield.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) launched Friday, December 10, the Provincial Hybrid Rice Technology Demonstration site in Sinaman village, Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte.

The Hybrid Rice Technology Demonstration area is a learning site for the farmers to see the advantages of hybrid rice, according to DA Regional Executive Director Rad Donn Cedeño.

Cedeño together with Dipolog City Mayor Darel Dexter Uy led the ceremonial launching of the demonstration area in Sinaman village and was witnessed by other agriculture officials.

Through the demonstration area, Cedeño said the farmers will have the opportunity to personally see the result and choose which among the best practices and technologies introduced by the private seed companies and may apply to their farms.

Seven private seed companies participated in the activity. They include SL Agritech Company, LongPing, Bioseed, Bayer, SeedWorks, Ramgo, and Davao Oriental Seed Producers Cooperative.

Cedeño said that the activity is in support of the DA’s battle cry in agriculture, “Masaganang ani at Mataas na akita (Bountiful harvest and high income).” (SunStar Zamboanga)
