THE National Government has postponed the implementation of the second round of the National Vaccination Days (NVD) to December 20 to 22 in 11 areas due to the threat of tropical cyclone Odette (Rai).
The NVD in the following areas was moved to a later date:
Luzon
* Bicol Region -- Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, Sorsogon
* Mimaropa -- Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan
Visayas
* Western Visayas -- Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Gumaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental
* Central Visayas -- Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor
* Eastern Visayas -- Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte
Mindanao
* Zamboanga Peninsula -- Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay
* Northern Mindanao -- Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental
* Davao Region -- Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, Davao Oriental
* Soccsksargen -- Cotabato, Saranggani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat
* Caraga -- Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur
* Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao
NVD in all other areas in the country will push through from December 15 to 17.
Odette, which has developed into a severe tropical storm, is expected to enter the Philippine areas of responsibility by Tuesday evening, December 14.
It was expected to make landfall in the vicinity of Caraga or Eastern Visayas by Thursday afternoon or evening, December 16.
As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, Odette was spotted at 1,165 kilometers (km) east of Mindanao with maximum sustained winds of 99 km per hour (km/h) near the center, gusts of 115 km/h and central pressure of 990 hPa. (SunStar Philippines)
