Cops, BOC seize P2.1-M smuggled cigarettes

PERSONNEL of the Zamboanga City Police Office's (ZCPO) Station 8 seized P2.1 million worth of smuggled cigarettes Tuesday, December 14, in Zamboanga City.

The smuggled cigarettes were seized after the ZCPO's Station 8 operatives, together with Bureau of Customs (BOC) personnel, opened two unattended vehicles around 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, in Sitio Pitogo, Sinunuc village.

The ZCPO's Station 8 reported that the two vehicles were opened after the Explosive Ordnance Demolition (EOD) conducted paneling on the two vehicles left unattended.

Seized were 62 master cases of smuggled cigarettes consisting of 40 master cases of Astro Red and 20 of Astro White worth P2.1 million, the police said.

The confiscated cigarettes and vehicles were turned over to the BOC for proper disposition.

The police have coordinated with the Land Transportation Office for the identification of the owners of two vehicles. (SunStar Zamboanga)
