Typhoon Odette brings strong rains over Liloan, Southern Leyte

TYPHOON Odette (international name: Rai) has maintained its strength as it moved over Liloan, Southern Leyte at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021, the state weather bureau said.

In its 5 p.m. Wednesday bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Typhoon Odette was moving westward at 30 kilometers per hour (km/h)

Pagasa added that Odette has maintained maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h near the center, with gustiness of up to 270 km/h and central pressure of 915 hectopascal.

The eye of Odette was also earlier seen over Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands at 3:10 p.m.

The weather bureau said that from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, heavy to torrential rains will be experienced over Caraga, Central Visayas, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Southern Leyte and Negros Occidental.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will be experienced over Leyte, the southern portions of Eastern Samar and Samar, Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and the rest of Northern Mindanao.

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains will also be experienced over Bicol Region, Quezon, the rest of Visayas, the rest of Zamboanga Peninsula, and mainland Bangsamoro.

"Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials," Pagasa said.
