A PREACHER died while another was wounded in a highway accident in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, December 27, 2021.
Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the fatality as Pastor Nestor Suson, 84, of the Assembly of God and a resident of Purok 2 in Bagong Kahayag village, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur.
Wounded was Junrey Leopan, 24, of Balumbonan village, Bayog village, Zamboanga del Sur.
Chang said the highway accident happened around 2 p.m. Sunday, December 26, in Purok 4 in Depase village, Bayog. Both Suson and Leopan were driving motorcycles at the time of the accident.
Investigation showed that Suson bumped the rear of Leopan while trying to overtake the latter who turned left while they were traversing the Bayog-Kumalarang secondary national highway in the same direction heading towards Depase village.
Chang said Suson was rushed to the Bayog Rural Municipal Health Unit but was pronounced dead by the attending physician while Leopan was brought to Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center for treatment. (SunStar Zamboanga)
