Lacson: Happiness, contentment, and all that is priceless

Nothing still beats “The Little Prince'' to be my most favorite literary piece. Why, you might ask. It is because I have proven again that the famous line “What is essential is invisible to the naked eye” quote is so true. No material gift would ever equate or surpass the appreciation and thankfulness given by a special person in your life. In my years of stay in the DepEd Regional Office, never have I felt so loved and appreciated. And to hear it straight from a person you least expect to, or from someone whom you have high regard for is truly priceless. Thank you Mam for being the lovable person that you are. And day by day, as I get to know you more, I am drawn to respect and admire you for your integrity and simplicity albeit being a person of influence and wealth. How you treat us, your staff, especially those close to you is a priceless gift I have received in my life. Not to mention your contagious laugh and giggle which always lightens up the mood. Too bad not a lot of people get to see that side of you.

2021 is so far one of the best years of my life, and I also give back all the glory to God!

I am certain that most of us would say that our Christmas celebration this year was more fun and heartwarming as we got to spend it with more family and friends as compared to last year. The traditional gift-giving and merry-making came back to life as the entire province has had a few active cases of Covid-19 in the past months. Being able to finally catch up with loved ones and relatives over the sumptuous array of dishes and food that we highly associate with Christmas is truly a priceless moment that we got to experience once again. We are praying and hoping that the health crisis may be over soon and we can gradually enjoy the things that we used to do before the pandemic. Nevertheless, we still need to be reminded to still observe physical distancing and health protocols such as wearing face masks and washing our hands.

As 2021 comes to its end, I thank the Lord for all the blessings that He has bestowed upon me and my family. Most of them were unexpected I should say, and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude and praise for all the grace and provision for the entire year. At the end of it all, what really matters most in life are not the material things that we acquire in life. The pandemic has certainly taught us that the most significant things that we must prioritize include our family, our health, and our safety. The jobs we have, the possessions we own, and all the recognitions that we receive are all temporary. Only God is permanent, and He alone suffices. Through Him, all things are made possible through his grace and providence.
