Cops hold operation 'Christmas Drop 2021'

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula has conducted Operation: "Christmas Drop 2021," which benefitted victims of Typhoon Odette and residents in depressed areas in the region.

The Christmas Drop 2021 was simultaneously held Sunday, December 26, by the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), Naga and Siay Municipal Police Stations in Zamboanga Sibugay, and Salug Municipal Police Station in Zamboanga del Norte.

Police Brigadier General Franco Simborio, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, who initiated the program in the region, said the activity is pursuant to the directive of General Dionardo Carlos, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, to share the blessing of Christmas to the unfortunate ones.

The ZCPO personnel distributed 50 burger steak meals, 50 bottled water, 50 pieces of assorted toys, 100 pieces loot bags with candies and toys and 75 food packs composing of rice, noodles, canned sardines to the recipients in Labuan village, this city.

The recipients in Labuan were the families who were displaced during the storm surged spawned by typhoon Odette on December 17.

"The activity aims to bring relief goods and Christmas goodies to the community members who were affected by the surge of tropical storm 'Odette' and those residents in depressed areas," Simborio said.

The other recipients of food packs were pedicab drivers at Suterville in San Jose Gusu village. They were also affected by Typhoon Odette.

He said the recipients in Naga and Sigay, Zamboanga Sibugay and Salug, Zamboanga del Norte received food packs, assorted toys and loot bag with candies.

The PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula personnel wore Santa Claus inspired outfits during the conduct of the Operation: Christmas Drop 2021 to foster good vibes and promote the spirit of the Christmas. (SunStar Zamboanga)
