MANILA Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula is set to preside Sunday, January 9, 2022, his first Fiesta Mass for the image of the Black Nazarene since coming in from the Archdiocese of Capiz in 2021.

In an announcement, the Quiapo Church said Advincula is set to preside over the 4 a.m. Fiesta Mass with all devotees invited to join online.

The Eucharistic Celebration to be presided by Advincula will kick off the 17-Mass slate for the 2022 Feast Day of the Black Nazarene.

Other Masses in the morning are set at 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m.

In the afternoon, there will be Masses at 12 noon, 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m.

Advincula's debut at the annual Black Nazarene feast, however, has been reduced to online Masses after the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 announced the suspension of all physical activities related to Traslacion 2022.

According to the NTF, only online Masses will be allowed for the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene amid the surge in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

Quiapo Church said the Masses will be live-streamed via the Quiapo Church's Facebook Page, Twitter, and Youtube Channel. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
