Assignment of CIDG official to WV opposed

Reelectionist Hinigaran town Mayor Jose Nadie Arceo is opposing the reassignment of an official of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to Western Visayas.

Arceo wrote a letter to Philippine National Police Chief General Dionardo Carlos urging him not to reassign Brigadier General Randy Peralta to Western Visayas.

Peralta is the deputy director for administration of the CIDG Central Office based in Camp Crame, Metro Manila.

In his letter, Arceo said Peralta is the husband of Mitchelle Cordova-Peralta, who is running as mayor in Hinigaran for the upcoming elections.

Aside from Peralta, Arceo is also requesting Carlos to reassign newly-appointed CIDG-Negros Occidental Director Police Lt. Colonel Santi Mendoza, pointing out that the latter is a close buddy of Peralta.

"In the interest of an open, fair, and honest conduct of elections, the undersigned interposes objection to the appointment or designation of Peralta and Mendoza," Arceo said.

He also requests for the two to be relieved or reassigned to other positions which they cannot directly influence the outcome of elections in the town.*
