Toyogon to face Tejones in UKC’s main event

AL TOYOGON will take on veteran Joe Tejones in the main event of Ultimate Knockout Challenge on Feb. 12, 2022 in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

The 23-year-old Toyogon just ended a four-fight losing skid after scoring a second round stoppage Lloyd Jardeliza in Paranaque City on Dec. 4, 2021. That was his first fight since 2019.

Toyogon had an awful 2019, in which he went 1-4, losing four straight fights. He kicked off his 2019 campaign with a unanimous decision over Ryusei Ishii, successfully defending his World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council Silver super featherweight belt.

He then lost his belt to Ryo Sagawa by unanimous decision, and lost three more fights against Shuya Masaki, former world champion Jorge Linares and Carlo Magali.

Meanwhile, Tejones is looking to bounce back after losing three straight contests. He suffered stoppage losses in the hands of Tsuyoshi Tameda, unbeaten Carl Jammes Martin and Michael Casama.

Toyogon is 11-6-1 with seven knockouts, while the 25-year-old Tejones is 13-9 with seven knockouts.

In the undercard, Ranelio Quizo (9-2, 2 KOs) will lock horns with journeyman Philip Luis Cuerdo (11-10-1, 4 KOs), while Jules Victoriano (10-4, 7 KOs) will face Dave Barlas (5-3-1, 3 KOs).
