About P10.2 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Guadalupe in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental about 4 p.m. yesterday, January 12.

The operation led to the arrest of Joel Rizardo, 21, of Greenville Bato in Barangay Rizal in the city, San Carlos City Police Station Chief Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon said.

Mesahon said that Rizardo is a high value target individual and a top drug personality of the city, adding that they are still investigating the suspect’s source and areas of operation.

He said that the suspect’s live-in partner, Jean Compacion alias “Jean Marquez,” of Hacienda San Jose at Barangay Guadalupe, evaded arrest by running to the sugarcane field near her house where the buy-bust happened.

Compacion is considered by authorities as a street level individual.

Recovered from Rizardo’s possession were eight sachets of suspected shabu valued at P10,200,000 and weighing about 1.5 kilogram, the P3,500 buy bust money, and P3,600 in cash believed to be proceeds of illegal drug trade, among others, police records showed.

The operation against Rizardo was a joint effort of the Regional Police Drugs Enforcement Unit, Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office Drugs Enforcement Unit, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Negros Occidental, among others.
